How it works

The most advanced app for reaching fluency in Arabic.

The quickest way into a language is the deep end. Lisaan puts you in the conversation from the first minute: you speak, it answers, and it shows you afterwards exactly what to fix.

  • Speak from the first minute. No typing, no multiple choice, no dragging words into a gap. You talk out loud, and something talks back.
  • Corrected the way a teacher would. Every spoken turn is checked for vocabulary and grammar, explained in plain English, and kept only if you want to keep it.
  • Nothing invented on the spot. The scenarios, the stories and the word cards are fixed and reviewed, and every Qur’anic word is tied to an ayah checked by hand.

Five levels, and you choose your own. Every scenario and every story is open at all of them.

Charity

Our charity promise

5%

of Lisaan’s monthly profits go to charity.

Learning Arabic to understand the Qur’an is an act of worship, and we want the app that helps you do it to give back. Every month, that 5% is given on behalf of everyone learning with us, starting with emergency relief and widening to water, orphan care and education as Lisaan grows.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ اتَّقُوا النَّارَ وَلَوْ بِشِقِّ تَمْرَةٍ

“Protect yourself from the Fire, even with half a date given in charity.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 1417

  • The 5% is fixed. It never shrinks.
  • Given every month, not once a year.
  • Split across trusted charities as we grow.

Why learn Fusha and not a dialect?

Fusha is understood across the whole Arab world. It’s the Arabic of the news, books and schools, so most Arabs understand it, wherever they’re from.

Dialects are local, simplified forms of it that let much of the grammar slip. Fusha is authentic Arabic, and once learnt, picking up dialects becomes easy.

Do I need to know any Arabic before I start?

A little. Lisaan doesn’t teach the alphabet, so it works best once you can read Arabic and put a few simple sentences together.

Starting from scratch? We recommend Al-Arabiyyah Bayna Yadayk (اَلْعَرَبِيَّةُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْكَ) or Madinah Book 1 with a teacher, then Lisaan for the daily speaking practice those books can’t give you.

What if I speak English?

No problem. We encourage it… well, sometimes.

Lisaan explains everything in English. Stuck mid-sentence? Say the English word, and Lisaan gives you the Arabic and carries on. In Chat mode, ask the tutor to switch to English whenever you need something explained.

Which Arabic does Lisaan teach?

Fusha: the Arabic of the Qur’an, the hadith and Islamic scholarship, also called Classical or Modern Standard Arabic. It is the Arabic of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his Companions.

Are all mistakes detected?

We aim to catch them all. Lisaan can occasionally get one wrong, though this is rare. If a correction looks off, just dismiss it.

Does it cover all of the Qur’anic vocabulary?

Almost all of it. The Qur’anic bank holds over 4,000 words taken straight from the Mushaf, each paired with an ayah it appears in and an example sentence.

Do I still need an Arabic teacher?

We recommend one. Lisaan gives you daily speaking practice between lessons; a good teacher gives you the structure no app can replace.
